frequently asked Questions

We believe clarity starts before we ever take on a case. Below you will find answers to some of the most common questions our clients ask.

Understanding the Process

What You Need to Know

Clear answers to help you understand your rights, your options, and what to expect when working with a personal injury attorney.

What does it cost to hire a personal injury lawyer?
At Addo Law, we handle personal injury cases on a contingency fee basis. This means you do not pay any upfront attorney's fees or case expenses, and we only get paid and reimbursed for cases expenses, if we successfully recover compensation on your behalf.

We understand that an injury can create financial stress. Our goal is to make quality legal representation accessible when you need it most.
Do I have a case?
The only way to know for certain is to evaluate the facts. Every situation is unique, and small details can make a significant difference.

If you have been injured and are wondering whether you may have a claim, we encourage you to contact us. A brief conversation can often provide clarity and help you understand your options moving forward.
How long does a personal injury case take?
Every case is different and therefore every different timelines to reach a conclusion. Some cases resolve within a few months, while others may take a year or longer, particularly if litigation becomes necessary.

The timeline often depends on factors such as the severity of the injury, the length of medical treatment, the complexity of the legal issues, and the insurance company's willingness to negotiate reasonably, and if the case requires litigation.

Our goal is not simply to resolve a case quickly, but to resolve it properly.
When should I seek medical attention after an accident?
As soon as possible.

Some injuries are immediately obvious, while others may not fully develop until hours or days
later. Prompt medical evaluation helps ensure you receive appropriate care and creates
important documentation regarding your injuries.

If you are experiencing pain, headaches, dizziness, numbness, or any other concerning
symptoms after an accident, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Who pays for my medical treatment after a car accident?
Minnesota is a no-fault insurance state. This means, in most motor vehicle accident cases, your
own automobile insurance policy provides no-fault benefits that may help pay for medical
expenses, a portion of lost wages, and support you may need around your house, regardless of
who caused the crash.

Additional compensation may be available through your health insurance plan. We will also
advance a claim for unpaid medical bills against the at-fault party depending on the
circumstances and severity of the injuries.

Because every situation is unique, it is often helpful to speak with an attorney early in the
process.
Do I really need a lawyer for my injury claim?
Not every injury claim requires a lawyer. However, insurance companies begin evaluating claims
immediately, often with the goal of minimizing their financial exposure.

An experienced attorney can help preserve evidence, manage communication with insurance
companies, identify available insurance coverage, coordinate documentation, and present the
full impact of your injuries and losses.

Many clients tell us that one of the greatest benefits of hiring Addo Law is having someone they
trust to guide them through the cumbersome process.

If you are unsure whether we can help, we encourage you to contact us for a free consultation.
Will I have to go to court?
Most personal injury cases resolve without a trial.  However, every case should be prepared as
though litigation may become necessary.

If filing a lawsuit becomes the best path forward, we will guide you through each step of the
process and explain what to expect along the way.

Our clients are never left wondering what comes next.
What is my case worth?
There is no calculator that can accurately determine the value of a personal injury case.

The value of a claim depends on many factors, including the nature of the injury, medical
expenses, lost income, future treatment needs, liability issues, available insurance coverage,
and the overall impact on your life.

We take the time to understand the full story before offering an opinion about value.
What should I do after an accident?
Your health and safety should come first.

If possible:
● Seek medical attention
● Report the incident when appropriate
● Take photographs
● Gather witness information
● Preserve any evidence
● Avoid giving recorded statements to insurance companies before understanding your
rights

The decisions made in the days following an accident can significantly affect a claim.
What happens during the free consultation?
The consultation is an opportunity to tell us what happened, ask questions, and learn about your
options.

We will listen to your concerns, discuss the facts of the case, explain the legal process, and help
you determine whether pursuing a claim makes sense.

There is no obligation to hire our firm.
